Massage Spa Treatment

Body Therapies Geelong

Most of us would agree that having a massage makes us feel great, but many people don’t realise exactly how good having a regular massage, or body therapy, is for their overall health and wellbeing.

We all feel different after a massage and that’s because it’s a healing process for tired aching and injured muscles. Massage is great for eliminating waste and toxins from the body by increasing blood, nutrients and oxygen into the muscles. Massage also helps to loosen tight or injured muscles as well as stimulate weak muscles increasing movement in our bodies.

Massage is important for everyone, especially active sports people, as it can increase endurance, control fatigue, speed muscle recovery and eliminate lactic acid build up. One of the most important reasons we would all benefit from regular massages is stress relief. Everyone experiences stress in their lives, whether it be from work, family, stress from society, mental tension from frustration or depression. When we are stressed, hormones are released that can shrink blood vessels. This inhibits our circulation and causes our heart to work harder.

Massage is perhaps one of the oldest healing traditions. Many cultures - including the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Chinese and Indians - were convinced of the therapeutic properties of massage and used it to treat a variety of ailments. Massage works by soothing soft tissue and encouraging relaxation. Massage is especially effective in treating ‘vicious cycle’ complaints such as a tension headache is often self-sustaining because the pain makes the sufferer clench the affected muscles even harder. This, in turn, creates more pain. A thorough neck and shoulder massage can release muscle tension and break the pain cycle.

One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Levels of stress hormones - such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine - are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.

Massage is vital for improving all aspects of our lives including:

  • Stress reduction
  • Enhances your metabolism
  • Increase circulation
  • Decreases fluid retention
  • Eliminates toxins in our bodies
  • Aids in muscle recovery
  • Eliminates injuries.

The different types of massage and body therapies we offer at Ren Skin Health:

  • Aromatherapy - essential oils made from selected flowers and plants are added to the massage oil for their particular therapeutic properties; for example, the scent of sandalwood is thought to reduce nervous tension.
  • Therapeutic - also known as ‘Western’ or ‘Swedish’ massage. One of the most popular forms of massage in Australia, this technique is designed to promote relaxation and improve blood circulation.
  • Remedial - to encourage healing of injured soft tissue - such as muscles, tendons and ligaments.

Waxing Geelong

Waxing at Ren Skin Health in Geelong

With summer knocking on our door step, it’s time to rid ourselves of our winter coats and get down to the beach! So get smooth this summer at Ren Skin health, with all waxing services available.

Lycon Wax

Here at Ren Skin Health we use Australia’s own Lycon wax. Lycon is the best quality wax in the world and is the choice of wax used in the top spas and salons in over 35 countries.

Formulated with the finest natural resins, bees wax and sensuous aromatherapy, LYCON delivers superior results. Strong enough to remove those short stubborn hairs, yet gentle enough for the most sensitive of skins.

Procedure

Before your professional therapist starts your waxing she will prepare your skin with Lycon’s Lycotance™ Skin cleanser with Jasmine and Chamomile to cleanse the area. We will then choose the appropriate wax for the area, smaller and more sensitive areas we use Lycon’s Rosette™ Hot wax with camomile and titanium dioxide, this wax soothes the area as it is being waxed for a more comfortable waxing experience. For larger areas we use Lycon’s Azulene™ strip wax with soothing and cooling Aloe Vera; this wax will leave your legs feeling silky smooth and comfortable. No more irritated itchy skin after waxing. At the end of your waxing experience our qualified therapist will gently massage Tea Tree cream onto the waxed area to help soothe and calm your skin. For facial waxing we offer a complimentary Youngblood® mineral cover up so you can get on with your day without that embarrassing redness.

Aftercare

As we all know it is important that we do the right home care after your waxing. For the first 24 hours after your waxing it is advised that you do not get the area wet or do any strenuous exercise; this is to prevent the follicles from getting infected with bacteria and to let the skin’s natural defence system calm down. It is advised to keep the waxed area well hydrated and clean for this we recommend a soothing tea tree cream which we can supply here at the salon. It is also very important to exfoliate the area a week after your waxing and every other day until your next waxing appointment, this is to prevent ingrown hairs, and so you also get a better waxing result! Your waxing result will be as good as your homecare, so to maximise your waxing keep the area hydrated and exfoliate.

The best time for females waxing is 2-5 days after their menstrual cycle, as hair growth is related to hormones. Females hormones are at their peak just before and during their menstrual cycle so your hair growth will be the most active and rapid at this time. For the best results in your waxing book your appointment 2-5 days after your menstrual cycle to get a silky smooth wax that will last weeks, plus it will hurt a lot less too.

For men it is a little harder to determine the best time for their waxing as they do not have as an obvious sign for their hormonal peak. It comes down to trial and error. Every 5-6 weeks seems to the average.

Youngblood Mineral Make-up

Youngblood Mineral Make-Up at Renskin Health Geelong

Mineral make-up has steadily emerged as the make-up of choice for men and women looking for a more natural alternative to traditional cosmetics.

Youngblood mineral make-up sets itself apart from other brands because it only uses the purest of minerals.

Formulated from 100% pure minerals Youngblood won’t block your pores or cause irritation. Our mineral make-up is cruelty free and doesn’t contain perfumes alcohol or petroleum dyes. Mineral makeup is used and recommended for using after any cosmetic procedures as it has great coverage with no irritation to the skin. It is also the only type of make-up that should be used after waxing, microdermabrasion or chemical peels; as it contains bismuth oxychoride which is a synthetic pearl mineral occurring in the Earth’s crust. It is a bright metallic lustre used for its skin protective properties and is very soothing on the skin, the foundation also contains Titanium Dioxide excellent for broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

All the girls at Ren Skin Health believe Youngblood mineral cosmetics is the way to go when in comes to make-up. A few of our favourites are:

Natural Mineral loose foundation

A light weight silky powder foundation, concealer and powder all in one. Great coverage whilst allowing the skin to breathe.

Mineral Primer

When applied over your day cream the mineral primer prepares the skin for a flawless make-up application; whilst providing your skin with vitamins and minerals which aid in the repair of stressed skin and to help minimise large pores and fine lines.

Eyelash Extensions Geelong

It's the heart of Spring Carnival  -  you've got the dress, you've got the hat -  to make the outfit really work, make your eyes a glamourous focus with Ren Skin Health's infamous eyelash extensions.

Ren Skin Health Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are a rapidly growing trend in Geelong and who better to cater for all your lash extension needs, that the girls at Ren Skin Health? Ren Skin Health has three therapist who specialise in eyelash extensions, they do a minimum of 3 hours of eyelash extensions per day with every client leaving 100% satisfied with their glamourous new look.

Applying Eyelash Extensions

Applying eyelash extensions is simple. All you need to do is lie down and relax and we can add to your experience by providing a collagen eye treatment to leave your eyes hydrated and refreshed for only an extra $8. We then consult you about what look you want to achieve with eyelash extensions - do you want a soft and natural look or a full and fun look? We can cater for all your eyelash extension needs. Once this is decided, we then carefully graft single strand lashes onto your natural lashes, one by one. It usually takes 90 minutes to complete a full set of eyelash extensions. Your therapist will advise you on the appropriate aftercare for your lashes.

Refills

Naturally our lashes grow and fall out and over the next 3 to 4 weeks you will notice a slight thinning of the eyelash extensions. This is normal, so we recommend refills on average every 3 weeks to maintain and get the best results from your eyelash extension. Refills take 45 minutes.

Ren Skin Health would also like to take this opportunity to introduce Youngblood mineral cosmetics. We will have more information on this beautiful make-up range in next month's blog.
